Job Summary:
The Draftsman cum QC Engineer will be responsible for preparing detailed engineering drawings, conducting quality inspections, documentation and ensuring manufactured components meet engineering specifications and quality standards. The candidate will work closely with the design, production, composites, and assembly teams involved in UAV manufacturing and should have knowledge on ISO9001, ISO 128, AS9100, JS55555, ASME Y14.5 and MIL stands.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting & Design
- Prepare 2D and 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
- Generate fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Maintain drawing revisions and engineering change records with PMO .
- Support prototype development and production teams with manufacturing documentation.
- Interpret engineering specifications, GD&T, and aerospace drawings.
- Prepare the process sheets for manufacturing Quality Control
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of mechanical and composite components.
- Verify dimensions and tolerances as per approved drawings.
- Conduct inspections using Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Prepare inspection reports, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and quality records.
- Prepare the QC plan as per ISO and aerospace standards
- Monitor production quality during development, manufacturing and integration activities.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with quality procedures and customer requirements.
Documentation
- Maintain inspection records and quality documentation.
- Prepare quality reports and production inspection checklists.
- Maintain document control for drawings and manufacturing records.
- Support audits and certification activities.
Required Qualifications:
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Production Engineering.
- 2-5 years of proven experience in engineering drafting and quality control roles.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or CATIA) for 2D/3D modeling.
- Expertise in Engineering Drawing Interpretation and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Hands-on experience with quality inspection techniques and measuring instruments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, assembly processes, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and documentation.
Preferred Experience:
- Direct experience in UAV manufacturing or the aerospace industry.
- Background in composite structures and precision fabrication.
- Familiarity with mechanical assembly and systems integration.
